The Great War, with its procession of horrors, was the scene of an unprecedented outburst of violence and stands as one of the most traumatic episodes of our contemporary History. This barbarism has put an indelible mark on our collective memory. Life in the trenches, a General Staff disconnected from reality, the insignificant value of human lives… so many traumas which never ceased to haunt and inspire the imagination of artists as writers, painters or poets. The filmmakers, by seizing the mythology of this "dirty war" and using the power of the filmed image, delivered a representation as close to reality as possible.

Through exclusive testimonies and numerous film clips, FILMING THE CHAOS meets directors, writers and actors who have come face to face with the challenge of the 14-18 staging, to tell the personal stories who made the great History.

With Annette Becker, Tony Bill, Iris Bry, Christian Carion, Albert Dupontel, Marc Dugain, James B. Harris, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Nikolai Müllerschon, Sylvie Pialat, Bertrand Tavernier, Philippe Torreton and Susan Vercellino.
